Ronald ("Ronnie") was the beloved youngest child of my paternal grandparents, William and Lillian McCoy. He was born deaf and was attending a school for deaf-mute children at the time he died. He was out with his family at Ipperwash Beach near Sarnia, Ontario when his mother realized that he was nowhere to be seen. Tragically, Ronnie had swum too far out into the lake, but was unable to shout for help. His drowned body was later recovered. He died one day after his ninth birthday.
