Veril Phelps, 56, of Albany died Tuesday at Albany General Hospital. He was born in Toledo, the son of Arthur Clifford and Joyce (Fenner) Phelps. He grew up on Beaver Creek (4th generation) and graduated from Newport High School. He lived in Prineville for a time before moving to Albany in the mid-90's. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and logging.
Veril is survived by his daughter, Stacee Keller of Kennewick, Washington; son Philip Veril Phelps of Robinson, Texas; mother Joyce Foley of Pensacola, Florida; brothers Clifford "Red" Phelps of Albany, Howard "Pistol" Phelps of Scio, Roy "Pardner" Phelps of Albany, sister, Caroline Cook of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; step-brothers Norman "Smokey" Lowther of Boring and Raymond Lowther of Seal Rock, step-sisters Tanya Gust of Moscow, Idaho and Sandra Kistler of Huntington Beach, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Clifford Phelps, step-mother, Norma Phelps; and step-brother, Daniel "Charlie" Lowther.
