Ava Estell MITHCELL, 74, of 1929 S. 5th, died Monday at 5:20 p.m. at West Texas Medical Center. Services will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Charles SINKS, pastor of Northside Church of God, officiating, assisted by the Rev. B. L. THORNTON, pastor of Southside Church of God. Burial will be at Cedar Hill cemetery.
Mrs. MITCHELL was born Aug. 1, 1901 in Louisiana. She married Harry E. McCOLLUM in 1934 in Louisiana, and he died Oct. 10. 1945.
She came to Abilene from Columbia, La. in 1944. She was member of the Church of God.
She married the Rev. E. J. MITCHELL Nov. 27, 1975 in Abilene.
Mr. MITCHELL is a Church of God evangelist. Mrs. MITCHELL was a licensed vocational nurse. She retired from Hendrick Memorial Hospital in 1963 and had done private duty nursing since that time.
Survivors include her husband of the home; on son, Harold McCOLLUM of Fort worth; one daughter, Mrs. L. D. (Joyce) BROWN of Macomb, Okla.; one brother Clarence RAILEY of Grayson, La.; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and two step sons, Bill MITCHELL of Selmar, Calif.; and Alvin MITCHELL of Lake Isabell, Calif.
