LUTHER LYONS DIED SUDDENLY

Luther Lyons, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Lyons, four miles northwest of Metz, died at the Ammerman hospital in Nevada Saturday afternoon. Lynn, as many knew him, was taken ill Thursday evening. Dr. P. C. Kelley was called and pronounced it a case of appendicitis. His condition became more critical and on Friday morning he was taken to Nevada for a surgical operation. This disclosed the fact that the appendix was ruptured. He passed away at 12:30 o'clock. Funeral services were held at the Christian church Monday at 2 o'clock p.m. conducted by Rev. Earl Bingham. The church was filled to the doors and many stood outside. A male quartet composed of J. H. Pettit, E. H. Strait, Russell Scroggin and Clinton Wolfe sang "Rock of Ages," "Somewhere," "There'll Be No Disappointment in Heaven" and "Going Down the Valley." The pallbearers were: Arch Brown, Arch Willsey, Roy Sheddrick, Aubrey Payne, Harve Ratts and Bruce Bury. Burial was in Balltown cemetery.

Luther Lynn Lyons, third son of Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Lyons, was born near Arthur, Mo., October 26, 1899, and at his death was aged 32 years, 5 months and 21 days. He leaves to mourn his passing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Lyons; his fiance, Beulah Abernathy; three brothers, Paul of Metz, Herbert of Council Grove, Kans., and Rex of Malin, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Porter of Dearborn, Mo., Mrs. Ruby Kinghorn of Astoria, Ore; a large number of relatives and a host of friends. Lynn became a member of the Christian church during a meeting conducted by Rev. R. A. Blalock in 1915.
