JAMES O. TIPTON Killed Sunday Near Atlanta May 12, 1924 Andalusia Star News(front pg)

James Oliver Tipton, a promising attorney of Atlanta, was killed in an automobile accident at Guntersville near Atlanta, Ga. on Sunday. With two other occupants of the car it, it was demolished in a wreck and young Tipton killed while the other two were seriously injured.

Mr. Tipton was the son of J.J. Tipton, one of the most prominent farmers in the county, residing in the Antioch Commmunity.

Mr. Tipton was raised in Covington County and during his early boyhood and young man-hood came in contact with a great many qualities that go to make success. He was for some time employed in the office of the Judge of Probate under Judge Robinson, and later studied law. He was unusually bright and had advanced rapidly in his profession. In just a short time he had come to be recognized by the lawyers of Atlanta as a high class and leading attorney. His death at this time is most untimely and under the circumstances regrettable.

The remains of Mr. Tipton reached Andalusia last night on the L&N train and was met by a host of friends and a delegation of Shriners of which order he was a member.

Mr. Tipton is survived by his father: J.J. Tipton, his mother who was Miss Clark, of Covington County, before her marriage. He leaves four brothers and two sisters. he was thirty-three years of age at the time of his death. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon by Dr. I.W. Chalker and internment made in Antioch cemetery.
