Obituary:

Mrs. Alpha Carpenter now 96, passed away April 12, 1978 in the Cookeville hospital.

She is survived by five daughters: Myrtle Perkins, Lakeland, Florida; Jessie Yeary, Harriman, Gertrude Boyd, Cookeville, Betty Olsen, Miami, Florida and Thelma Holmes, Melbourne, Florida; four sons; Leslie Snow of Harriman, Louis Snow of Johnson city, Theodore Snow of Miami, Florida and Lloyd Snow of Hixson. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

She won a trophy for being the oldest person at the Sate Fair in Nashville.

Funeral services were held at Crab Orchard Baptist Church, Oakdale, with Mrs. Boyd's pastor, Buffalo Valley and Brother Enoch Howard, officiating.

Burial followed in Crab Orchard Cemetery.
