Death of Matthew Quilter
It is with a feeling of deep regret that we are called upon to chronicle the death of Mr. Matthew Quilter, which took place on last Saturday, after a serious illness of more than two months. The funeral exercise took place on last Monday at St. Mary's church in East Palestine and were very nicely and impressively conducted by Rev. Father Welch of Cannelton, Pa. The church was filled to is utmost capacity by sorrowing friends gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased. As a citizen he was universally beloved, because of his reserve, industry and liberality. He was an earnest, active Christian, and of him it can be said: "None knew him, but to love him,and mourned was he by all, when suddenly he was compelled to answer his Master's call."
The remains were interred in St. Mary's cemetery, whither they were followed by a large circle of friends, including the C.B.A., of which was a prominent member.
