LODI - F. William "Bill" Michel, age 94, died on Friday, January 10, 2003, at the Lodi Good Samaritan Center. He was born on July 17, 1908, in Lodi, the son of William and Elizabeth (Sery) Michel. Bill's father and his brother started the family plumbing business, Michel Brothers, in 1898. Bill took over the business in 1934. His sons, and later his grandson, joined him in the business now known as Michel Plumbing and Heating, Inc. He was a member of the Wisconsin Plumbing Association and a charter member of the Lake Wisconsin Boat Club. Bill served on the Lodi School Board for 24 years and was the Fire Chief for many years for the Lodi Volunteer Fire Department. He was awarded Lodi's Third Annual Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award. He enjoyed curling and fishing. On March 16, 1934, Bill was united in marriage to the former Verna Cooper. He is survived by his wife, Verna Michel of Lodi; three children, Francis "Mike" (Mary Ann) Michel of Lodi, Marjorie Daentl (Jim Murn) of Dodgeville, Jim (Ellie) Michel of Lodi; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Dick Snyder. He was preceded in death by a sister Evelyn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2003, at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Lodi, with Monsignor Elmer Dietzel officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the mass at the church. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
