Albert heard his country's call during World War II and served with the 6th Army in the Philippines. He saw action also in Luzon, New Guinea, and the Bismarck Archipelago and earned a Combat Infantryman's Badge.
On June 26, 1946 he married Elsie Glauninger in Austin. Albert devoted his life to his wife and their children. In his later years his passion was his grandchildren. He made his living as a self-employed cement contractor. Albert was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Austin, and after moving to Georgetown, joined and worshipped at Faith Lutheran Church.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved Elsie. He is survived by sons, Tommy and wife Colette of Georgetown and Glen and his wife Charlyne of Georgetown; daughters, Frankie and husband Joe Rehfeld of Lago Vista and Connie and husband King Bravo of Boerne; sister, Inez Gaines of Cedar Creek; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
