James Acosta, a Henryetta resident, was born March 4, 1930 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Amanda and Casimiro Acosta. He passed away December 22, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years. James was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the US Air Force. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the Elks Lodge. James was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Patrick Acosta, two sisters, Judy Acosta and Rosie Nieto, and by a step grandson, Denis Kight. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, December 27, 2008 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Henryetta, Oklahoma with reverend Peter Phung, celebrant. Internment will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.
