GASTONIA - Martha Bess Overcash, 57, of Gardner Park Drive, passed away Nov. 11, 2008 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late W. A. and Ethel Lineberger Bess; she retired from the Gaston County School System after having taught school at Carr Elementary School in Dallas for 32 years. She was a faithful member of Lutheran Chapel Church where she was church organist for 30 years.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Norman G. Overcash and a brother, Thomas Henry Bess and wife Jean of Gastonia.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Lutheran Chapel Church Family Life Center, conducted by the Rev. Bill Zima.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Ward Funeral Service, 220 South Broad Street, and from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral at the church.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
