Wagoner Resident Charles Mitchell Butler, 78, passed away Sunday, Dec 8, 1991 at Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah. Services were held Tuesday at Mallett Chapel in Wagoner, with Rev. Carl Murphy and Rev. Bobby Botts officiating.
Mr. Butler was buried at Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner.
Mr. Butler was born September 29, 1913 in Cherokee County, the son of Samuel and Grace (Mitchell) Butler. He moved to Wagoner in the early 1940's, and married Cleathel Cannon, April 14, 1941 in Tulsa. Mr. Butler was a retired painter.
He is survived by his wife, Cleathel of the home; three sons, Charles Norman Butler of Hulbert, Steven Butler of Independence, Kansas, and James Edward Butler of Wagoner; two daughters, Diana Lynn Marsh of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Deborah Jane Tyler of Durant; a brother, Samuel J. Butler of Wichita, Kansas; 9 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jay Henderson, Harry Wilbanks, David Iness, Dee McFarland, T. H. Butler and Alva Smith.
Charles Mitchell Butler is the 8th great-grandson of Pilgim John Howland that came to American on the Mayflower in 1620.
