Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Old Mission with entombment to follow in the IOOF Mausoleum.
Mr. Hoerntlein died Saturday in an automobile accident near Cholame. He was 23.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1944, in San Luis Obispo and was graduated from Mission High School where he was an outstanding athlete. He also attended St. Mary's College in Moraga.
Mr. Hoerntlein had been a San Luis Obispo policeman and was last employed by the Hearst Ranch Corp. pending his entrance into the California Highway Patrol Academy.
