A. Gertrude (Olmer) Skonezny, 91, of South Greensburg, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born May 19, 1917, in Youngwood, a daughter of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Farren) Olmer. She was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, South Greensburg, and its Rosary Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Seton 306, and the Friday Senior Bowlers at Hillview Lanes. Gertrude, known as "Tootie" to her family and childhood friends, was a 1935 graduate of Youngwood High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Joseph E. Skonezny, on Jan. 30, 2006; son-in-law, Carmen E. Moffa; two brothers, Fred and Raymond Olmer; and two sisters, Mary Croushore and Mabel Perkey. She is survived by her daughters, Geraldine Massari and her husband, Frank, of South Greensburg, and Bernardette Moffa, of Latrobe; seven grandchildren, Lynne (Massari) Bryan and her husband Tim, Frank Massari and his wife Linda, Thomas Massari and his wife Donna, Rebecca (Moffa) Yaniro and her husband Tom, Carmen "Jay" Moffa and his wife Necole, Susan (Massari) Jacobsky and her husband Jason, and Marcus Moffa and his wife Erin; 11 great-grandchildren, Dan, Matt and Nathan Bryan, Shea, Aidan, Noah and Ayla Moffa, Andrew and Anthony Massari, Lucas Yaniro and Nicholas Jacobsky; a brother, Walter Olmer, and a sister, Patricia Olmer, both of Youngwood; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Olmer, of Youngwood, Doris Olmer, of Georgia, and Helen Skonezny, of Jeannette; and a special friend since childhood, Ida Mae "Idy" (Morris) Baker. The family would like to thank the staff on "w-B" at Westmoreland Manor for their care and kindness. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg. Prayers at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Bruno Catholic Church, South Greensburg. Entombment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
