Lester G. Ball, 83, of Linton, IN passed away Friday, December 19, 2008, at Greene County General Hospital. He was born on October 21, 1925, in Greene Co., IN to Daniel and Pearl (Copeland) Ball.

He married Marjorie Ashcraft on August 4, 1946. Lester served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

After serving in the military he was a tool and die inspector for Crane. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for fifty years.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Ball; four sons, John P. Ball of Bloomfield, Gary R. Ball of Sandborn, Lester David Ball of Martinsville and Jeffrey S. Ball of Linton; three daughters, Donna R. Plew, Leslie A. Hembree and Jean M. Ellis, all of Linton; one brother, Daniel Ball and two sisters, Barbara June Earle and Elaine 'Peg' Owen, all of Linton. Also survived by 21 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son Kevin Ball, two grandsons, Jeremy Plew and Joshua Ball, six brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel on Monday, December 22, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church in Linton, IN. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Eugene Riker officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN with full Military graveside rites being given by American Legion Post #22.
