Harmon Gaskins, Jr., son of Harmon and Malissa Gaskins, enlisted as a private in Company I on May 2, 1862. He died of disease approximately six weeks later near Fort Brown, a confederate fort briefly located on the site of Fort St. Simons. He would have been only 15 when he enlisted and barely 16 when he died.
