ATTENDED FUNERAL OF SCOTT MORRIS" A number of relatives and friends from Cooper attended the funeral of W. S. "Scott" Morris in Ben Franklin Thursday morning at 10 o'clock.
Deceased was 79 years old last August. He was taken ill four weeks ago and two weeks later was taken to Paris for treatment, where he died Wednesday morning at 4:30 o'clock.
He was born in Henderson County, North Carolina, and came to Texas in 1869 with his father, Thos. H. Morris, who located five miles west of Clarksville,where he farmed three years and moved near Ben Franklin.
After farming several years, he moved into town and engaged in the mercantile business over forty years.
He married Miss Adelia Oliver in Red River County January 5, 1871 and is survived by his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Lou Harris of Noble. He also leaves three brothers,W. T. Morris of Paris, Mark Morris of Wade Okla., and Jesse Morris of Anadarko,Okla., and a sister, Mrs. Caroline Wilkerson of Anadarko.
He was well known in Masonic circles and was next to the oldest member of the Ben Franklin lodge. He was a successful businessman and had a great many friends.
