Richard Shelton Ellis II was born on 11 Oct 1852 at "Afton", Buckingham Co., VA. He married Rebekah C. McCue, daughter of Charles William McCue and Virginia Lovely Pulliam, on 11 Oct 1899 at Washington, DC; had this Wedding announcement: The bride is a daughter of Judge McCue, of Augusta and is highly accomplished and popular. The groom is one of the best citizens of Virginia, and a prominent farmer of Buckingham. He died on 28 Sep 1914 at Mt. Rush, Buckingham Co., VA, at age 61; died suddenly at "Mount Rush," having been in bad health for some time but his death came as a great shock and surprise. He was an elder in Maysville Presbyterian Church, a man of intelligence, industry and moral worth. Survived by his wife, Rebecca (McCue) Ellis, two sons and two daughters. Virgilia P. Sadler of Buckingham gives his death as 29 Sept. 1913. He was buried circa 30 Sep 1914 at "Solitude" Cemetery, Buckingham Co., VA.
