Graveside services with military honors for Gene A. "Moon" Mullin, 73, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Clinton Cemetery.
Mr. Mullin died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 16, 1935, in New Virginia, Iowa, the son of Earl Albert and Norma Wilson Mullin. He attended Lawrence schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1954.
Mr. Mullin was a meatcutter and worked for Turner Grocery and Harwood's Meats. He worked at Rusty's IGA for 25 years, and later worked for Checkers Foods in Lawrence and Falley's/Food 4 Less in Topeka.
He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union No. 576 in Kansas City, Mo., and was a past member of the American Legion Post 14, the Eagles Aerie No. 309, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Men's Auxiliary, all of Lawrence. He was a past president of Douglas County Amateur Baseball Association and coached Little League football and baseball.
He married Eugenia Ruth "Sissey" Holladay on Dec. 23, 1961, in Lawrence. She died Dec. 17, 2006.
Survivors include a son, Gene Jr., Lawrence; three daughters, Katherine Foster and Sara Mullin, both of California, and Laura Rogers, Lawrence; and four grandchildren.
