LUTZ - Carrie Pearl Futch, 79, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 at her residence in Lutz, FL after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born on March 3, 1929 in Lake Wales to the late George William & Theresa Maude Capps; she was a lifelong resident of the area. She was the owner of the Wedding Cake Bake Shop for 12 years, a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Wales and the Polk City Extension Homemakers. She loved quilting, sewing, cooking, baking and gardening.
Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Wilhoyte Futch. Survivors include her daughters, Marthann Carter (Claude) of Plant City and Leona Louise Grant (Larry) of Lutz; son, William Wilhoyte "Bill" Futch (Jackie) of Polk City; brother, Carl L. Capps of Fairbanks, Alaska; sisters, Peggy Smith of Babson Park and Theresa McCollough (Bobby) of Lake Wales; sister-in-law, Alice Capps of Pleasanton, Texas; devoted friend and caregiver, Margaret Pacheco; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
