Marion J. Grubb, 85, of Greencastle passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.
Born Feb. 22, 1923 in Putnam County, he was the son of Joseph R. and Lola M. Meek Grubb. He was a graduate of Belle Union High School. He married Mary E. McCoy on Oct. 13, 1946 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 2000. He married Sylvia Poynter Finchum on April 19, 2003 and she survives.
Mr. Grubb had served in the United States Army Aircorp during WWII, serving in the South Pacific. He had been a farmer until his retirement. He attended Hanna Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Marsha Costin and husband David of Reelsville; a son, Kyle Grubb and wife Maristela of Longmont, Colo.; two stepsons, Kenneth Finchum and wife Sharon and Dean Finchum and wife Sue, all of Greencastle; three grandchildren, Joseph Grubb, Brian Grubb, and Jessica Garr and husband Ryan; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two children and sister Mary Elnora Sharp.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 at the New Providence Cemetery with the Rev. Patrick Smith officiating. Burial will follow. Bittles and Hurt Funeral will be handling the arrangements.
