Anne Frances Perkins was known as Nannie, died in 1907, aged 81, of pneumonia, survived by daughter Miss Mildred Ellis and seven sons, all of whom were at her bedside in her last sickness. She was the last of her family of three sisters and two brothers. Just in business, she managed for her dependent family of growing children through the dark days of reconstruction. Loved by all who knew her, she was known the county over for her old-time hospitality, her home, "Afton", has for many years been the gathering place for friends and loved ones. Interred at "Solitude," the old Perkins homestead where she spent her girlhood days as Miss Nannie Perkins. The home at "Solitude" burned many years ago, before 1935. The "Solitude" Cemetery is on the south side of Route 60 about 4 miles west of Buckingham C.H. after you pass "Afton" and before the turn off for the Eldridge farm. She was born on 17 Jan 1827 at "Solitude", Buckingham Co., VA. She was christened in Jun 1830 at Maysville Presbyterian Church, Buckingham Co., VA. She married Richard Shelton Ellis I, son of Charles Ellis and Margaret Keeling Nimmo, on 26 Apr 1848 at Solitude, Buckingham Co., VA. She died on 3 Feb 1907 at "Afton", Buckingham Co., VA, at age 80. She was buried circa 8 Feb 1907 at "Solitude" Cemetery, Buckingham Co., VA.
