Russell Ray McDonald died on Sunday, December 14, 2008 in Abilene, Texas at the age of 43 years. He was born in Abilene on February 5, 1965 to LeNell (Nichols) McDonald and Ronnie McDonald.

Russell attended school in Abilene, graduating from Cooper High School. He was also a graduate of Action Career Training and Security Training School. He had worked as a security guard for Brinks for the past five years and had previously worked for OSI.

Russell was a long time member of Elmwood West United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.

Russell's special interest centered around rock collecting, coin collecting, ham radios and the gang at the coffee shop.

Russell was predeceased by his grandparents Ruby and Bernice Nichols and Eulah and Granvil McDonald and his father, Ronnie McDonald.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Harlan and LeNell Turner of Abilene; a sister and brother-in-law, Lesa and John Hazle of Cleburne, Texas; uncle, Vernon Nichols of Clyde, Texas and three nephews, Rob, Drew and Dane Hazle.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Elmwood West United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Pelfrey officiating. Burial will be in the Oplin Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas.
