James Oliver Hightower, 65, died at the family home near Grove Spring on Wednesday of last week from cancer of the prostate gland. The son of Epp and Rilda Hightower, he was born August 25, 1873 and died December 28, 1938, being 65 years, 4 months and 3 days old. He married Ida Belle Holdcraft October 20, 1895 and to this union were born 7 children. His parents and an infant son, Ira, preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife; 3 sons, Harley, Hadley and Epp of Grove Spring; 3 daughters, Edith Wynn of Hartville, Erma Crain and Iva Hopkins of Grove Spring; 5 brothers, John of Jefferson City, Joseph of Hartville, Pealy, Everett and Dite of Grovespring; 3 sisters, Cora O'Dell of Grovespring, Leaner Claxton of Competition and Sally Mansfield of Clinton, Mo. He professed faith in Christ in the year of 1893 and united with the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church of Grovespring, later moving his membership to Elk Creek Baptist Church, and on moving back to the Grovespring community, united again with the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Funeral service conducted by Rev. Jordan R. Bogart. Burial in Shaddy Cemetery.
