Served in the U.S. Army from September 1942 to October 1945

On April 25, 1943, just before he was shipped overseas, Jack married Florine Grace Kershner in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The couple raised six children: Linda, Stanley, Joyce, Jean, David, and Robert. Jack was employed by the American Car and Foundry, and later at the Berwick Forge and Fab as a welder.
