Sigvard M. Senstad, died at his home, 1336 George Street, Friday afternoon after an illness of nine weeks' duration. Mr. Senstad was 58 years of age and was born in Naes Hedemarken, Norway, July 5, 1868. He came to this country 42 years ago and for the last twenty-five years was an employee of the La Crosse Rubber Mills company. He was an active member of the Independent Order of Foresters and of the Sons of Norway.
He is survived by his widow, five daughters; Dagny, Evelyn and Mrs. Morris Allen, of La Crosse, Verna of Glencoe, Minnesota, and Mrs. Clifford Lenninger, of Graybull, Wyoming, two sons, Leif J., of Graybull, Wyoming, and Arthur M. of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, two brothers, Matt Senstad, of La Crosse, and John Senstad of Marmoth, South Dakota, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence, 1336 George Stret, and 2:30 from the Trinity Lutheran Church, corner of Charels and Sill streets. Rev. E. O. Vik will officiate, and interment will be made in the Onalaska cemetery.

Sigvard Mekkelsen Senstad was born July 5, 1868 the son of Mekkel Hansen (born Feb 1, 1829) and Lisa Johannesdtr (born 1842) who were married Feb. 15, 1862. His father worked at the brandy factory and grew oats and potatoes on the Senstad Sveen according to the 1875 census. The parents came to America with their son Sigvard in 1885.
Sigvard became a citizen of the United States Oct. 1, 1890 in the Circuit Court, County of La Crosse, State of Wisconsin. He was born in Norway on or about the year eighteen hundred and sixty eight, that he emigrated to the United States and landed at the port of Port Huron on or about the month of April 1885 and renounced his allegiance to Oscar the 2nd King of Norway. He married Hilda C. Frogner Sept. 27, 1892 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in La Crosse. They were the parents of 8 children. He died at the age of 59 years.
