She is survived by one daughter, Mary (husband, Ned Jackson, deceased) Jackson of Jacksonville; two sons, Harry (wife, Kaye) Coop of Jacksonville and John (wife, Shirley) Coop of Murrayville; ten grandchildren, Julie Ann (husband, Greg) Graham of Pleasant Plains, Mark T. (wife, Candy) Jackson of Waverly, Edward T. (wife, Amy) Jackson of Jacksonville, Sarah A. (husband, Lou) Boni of Chapin, Jennifer J. Shelton of Murrayville, Jason Coop and Janene Coop, both of Florida, and Angela (husband, Mark) Grant, Michael (fiance, Jearrie Burleson) Coop, and Andrew (wife, April) Coop, all of Jacksonville; twenty great-grandchildren, five, great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Anna Mae Lonergan of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Hermes, Alice Hermes, Lucille Walsh, and Gertrude Walsh, and five brothers, Clarence, Chester, Ralph, Leo, and Harold Walsh.
She was the first woman to run for countywide office in the State of Illinois. She was elected Morgan County Clerk in 1958 and served in that position until her retirement in December of 1974. She was a past chairwoman of the Morgan County Republican Party, and a well-know fundraiser in the area. She was the top fundraiser for many local organizations, including the Republican Party, Fireman's Ball, and the addition to the former Our Saviour Hospital. She was a founding member of the local Big Brother-Big Sister agency. She served on the board of director's of Our Saviour Hospital, and was a member of Alexander Women's Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Amvets Auxiliary, and Women of the Moose. She was a member of Church of Our Saviour, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Services were entrusted to Williamson Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
