Maxine Buxton
Maxine W. Buxton, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Oct. 19, 1922, in Jackson, the daughter of Manning O. and Ethel Greenwood Davis. On March 16, 1948, she married Harold E. Buxton in Jackson.
She was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State Teachers College and had been a teacher in Jackson and Cape Girardeau. She was a member of PEO and a 60-year member of First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.
She is survived by her husband of Cape Girardeau, two sons, Kirk (Mary) Buxton of Cape Girardeau and Richard "Dick" (Teresa) Buxton of Wildwood, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sarah and Andrew Buxton, both of St. Louis, and Kent Buxton of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard Davis.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Kabo Jr., officiating and Dr. Kenneth Moxey assisting. Private burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Chateau Girardeau Foundation.
