Betty Jean Gifford 1924 - 2008 Betty Jean Gifford was born to Hazel and Vern Caldwell on April 24, 1924, in Moville, IA. She left the family farm to live in Washington where she met Ray Gifford while he was stationed there during World War II. They married and moved to Taft, CA where they raised their two children. Ray preceded her in death, July 1987. Betty is survived by her son, Vic Gifford; her daughter, Judy Blacklock and husband, Tom. She has three grandsons, Brian Blacklock and wife, Pam, Duane Blacklock, Steve Gifford and wife, Becky. She has four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Shianne Gifford, Todd and Stacey Blacklock. She is survived by her brother, Howard Caldwell and wife, Diane; niece, Thaes St. Pierre; and family friends, Susan Smith, Nikki and Bill Kledas. Betty was a Pink Lady at Memorial Hospital where she worked at the front desk and delivered flowers to the patients. She also gave the gift of life by donating ten gallons of blood to Houchin Blood Bank. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church on Niles Street. She will always be remembered for her positive spirit, helpful ways, and love of family and friends. Christmas was her favorite holiday; so in lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to the Salvation Army Christmas Fund or any other charity of your choice. Graveside services will be Monday, Dec. 15th, 1:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
