Mr. Floyd Don Braden, 93, of Kimball, died Thursday, December 11, 2008. He was born January 31, 1915, in Thompsonville, Illinois to the late Otes and Ora Braden.

He married Edith Lager, April 5, 1941, in Palmyra, Missouri.


Mr. Braden worked for Uniroyal Tire for 34 years, retiring in 1977.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theaters from 1942 -1945.

He was a member of Little Spring Baptist Church and the American Legion Smiths Creek Post #525. He enjoyed gardening and supplied vegetables for his entire neighborhood

He also enjoyed reading and feeding the birds, squirrels and deer.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Edith; a son, Donald Braden of Tigard, Oregon; a daughter, Judy (Jim) Armstrong of Kimball; two grandchildren, Timothy Armstrong of Westland and Michael Armstrong of Lafayette, Louisiana; and a close family friend, James Wetter of Marysville.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Rawls and Dorothy Braden.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2008, in Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans.
