Nanny, 20, killed in Dec. 10 car crash
Speed, weather and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in a fatal accident Dec. 10 on U.S. 42, according to Carrollton police.
Ronald Nanny, 20, of Fifth Street, Carrollton, was the single occupant in a vehicle that reportedly slid sideways on the pavement and struck two trees before coming to rest near Growers Warehouse, said Assistant Chief Steve Abbott.
Officer John See responded to the scene shortly after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Responders found Nanny had been ejected from the vehicle, Abbot said. Nanny was transported to Carroll County Memorial Hospital, then transferred by ambulance to University of Louisville Hospital.
Weather conditions prevented an air transport, Abbott said.
Nanny died at the Louisville hospital at about 4 a.m. Dec. 11 from his injuries.
Abbott said excessive speed and a slippery road surface contributed to the crash. He said toxicology reports have been requested to confirm whether alcohol was involved. Results are not yet available.
Carroll County EMS and the Carrollton Fire Department assisted See at the scene.

Other survivors include his brothers; Michael Nanny of Bedford, KY., and Christopher Nanny of Carrollton, KY., a sister also survives him; Sara Skirvin of Carrollton, KY.
