John was the son of John Bradley (1794-1879) and Elizabeth Polly Harper (1803-____). He married Elizabeth Rebecca Hudson in about 1851. They had 5 children that we know of. John died in the hospital in Rome, Georgia, during the Civil War. He was a Private in Company B of the 7th Georgia Infantry, State Guards. It is possible that his body was returned to Carroll County and buried in Holly Springs Cemetery where his wife and 3 of their children would later be buried.

John, his wife, and his brother Francis Marion Bradley were members of the County Line Baptist Church of Christ.
