Pearl Buchanan Center, 74, formerly of 3705 Highway 414, widow of Doynell Center, died May 14, 2002.

A native of Tennessee, a daughter of the late Alfonso and Mary Buchanan, she was a retired bookkeeper and secretary for Center Lumber Co., and was a member of Ebenezer Welcome Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Allen Bradley, of Landrum; two grandchildren, Melissa Cline and her husband Tommy, and Kelly Burrell; a stepgrandson, Casey Bradley; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Alex Cline.

Mrs. Center was predeceased by a son, Richard Doynell Center; three brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Highland Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Steven Stone and the Rev. Mickey Thomas. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Trammell, Ellis Center, Esley Center, James Center, Chris Strange and Doug Trammell.

Honorary escort will be Ann Campbell, Joyce Strange, Monell Southern, Ruby Rogers, Ruth Bruce, Teresa Williams and Joann Howard.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at the home of the daughter, Linda Bradley, 313 S. Glassy Mountain Road, Landrum.

Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Welcome Baptist Church Family Life Building Fund, 4005 Highway 414, Landrum, SC 29356; or Highland Baptist Church Sound System Fund, 3270 Highway 414, Taylors, SC 29687.

The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Thursday.
