MRS. WILDA J. WOODARD, 79, died Saturday, September 12, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Nelson at Panquitch. She was the widow of David W. Woodard and was born at Fillmore, April 8, 1863, a daughter of Haakan and Mary Ann Anderson.
She was an active member of the L.D.S. church and served for many years as president of the Relief Society organization.
Surviving are two sons, David W. Woodard of St. George and George A. Woodard of New York; five daughters, Mrs. Clair Marraffino of New York City, Mrs. Mary McAliston of Washington, Penn., Mrs. Mabel Nelson of Panquitch, Mrs. Ruby Sandberg of Monroe and Mrs. Sylvia Hansen of Salt Lake City, twenty grandchildren; a brother A.M. Anderson of Logan; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Magleby of Twin Falls, Idaho and Mrs. Annie Ross of Joseph.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Elsinore ward under the direction of Dee Sorenson of the ward bishopric.
Speakers were Bishop Rudolph Church of the Panquitch ward, Henry J. Kotter of Elsinore, Hanmer E. Peterson of Richfield and Mrs. J. Stead of Widstoe. Musical numbers were as follows; vocal solo, "Mother Machree", Mrs. W.W. Sylvester, accompanied by her daughters, Bethel and Althea Sylvester; vocal duet, "Goin Home", Mrs. Hooper and Mrs. Porter of Panquitch; solo, "My Faith in Thee", Mildred Dyches of Monroe; double duet "Let the Lower Lights be burning", Mrs. Rulon Newell, Mrs. Armour Hill, Mrs. Horace Peterson and Mrs. Gordon Christensen, accompanied by Mrs. Chris Marquardson. A tribute was read by Mrs. D.W. woodard, Jr., of St. George and a reading, "Crossing the Bar", was given by Mrs. Leland Elmer of Panquitch. The invocation was by W.W. Sylvester; the benediction by Soren Hermansen. Burial was in the Elsinore Cemetery, where A.O. Engar dedicated the grave.
