Born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, Reuben K. Geyer was the husband of Camilla Geyer, who died 10 years before him. He was the father of William, Anna, Franklin and Kate. Reuben was a carpenter and contractor, and according to his death certificate died of spinal sclerosis.

Sclerosis is hardening within the nervous system, especially of the brain and spinal cord, often coming from degeneration of nervous elements like the myelin sheath. Reuben may even have had ALS or Gehrig's disease, but it is hard to know for sure with the info we have at hand.

From the 1856 through 1890 editions of the Philadelphia City directories we learn that Reuben and his family lived at 1647 Cadwallader Street in Philadelphia. Some time after his wife Camilla died he must have moved because on the death certificate, his last address was 2400 N. Orkney Street in Philadelphia. He can be seen on the 1900 census at this same address, which is the home of his daughter Kate and her husband Harry Werner, a milk dealer.
