William C. Kloss, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008.
He was born Dec. 2, 1945, in Eau Claire to Clarence and Eleanor (nee Girard) Kloss. A graduate of Altoona High School, he married his high school sweetheart, the former Carol Kolkind. Bill entered the U.S. Army and served as a medic in Vietnam from 1965 to 1968, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. For many years, he worked as lab technician for Benson Optical and several other optical stores in the Eau Claire area.
William is survived by three children, John (Jodi) Kloss of West Salem, Karla Thompson of Eleva and Robert (Carissa) Kloss of Salem, Mass.; four grandchildren, Luke and Christopher Kloss of West Salem and Jacob and Nicholas Thompson of Eleva; a brother, Ken Kloss of Elijay, Ga.; and dear friend and companion of five years, Debra Ward of Eau Claire. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William "Billy"; and two brothers, Gerald and Robert.
Memorial services will be held at noon on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Plombon's All Faiths Funeral and Cremation Service, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors.
