James Joseph Kelly, of Camden, passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 ,in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 77. He was born on June 30, 1931, in Chester, Pa., son of the late C.B. and Josephine (Smith) Kelly. Mr. Kelly served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He attended LaSalle College and continued his education at Temple University, Philadelphia, Pa., receiving his masters degree. He retired from the Smyrna School District, where he worked as a guidance counselor. Mr. Kelly later owned and operated the Trophy Hut for 20+ years in Dover. He was active in his hometown of Camden and had served as Mayor. He enjoyed his Irish roots and was an avid Eagles fan. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dover and a life member of the VFW. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Kathleen Kelly; two daughters, Kathleen Mayan Hamilton and son-in-law, Dale Hamilton of Dover and Joycelyn Kelly of Lewes; grandchildren, James Paul Mayan and his wife Bonniel and great-grandchildren, Robert and Rylee; grandsons, Gerry and Jake Mayan both of Dover and; granddaughter, Izabel K. Kelly-Conway of Lewes; and a brother Thomas B. Kelly of Ridley Park, Pa. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901 or Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, De 19901.
