SERVICES HELD TODAYFOR OIL SPRINGS WOMAN
Mrs. Florence Fyffe, 70, prominent Oil Springs resident, died at her home at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, following a year's illness. The daughter of the late Jim and Nancy Salyer Gullett, she was born at Oil Springs, November 16, 1880. A lifelong member of that community she was held in high esteem by her neighbors and friends. She was a member of the United Baptist Church. She was first married to Hardy McKenzie who preceded her in death and later to Lark Fyffe, who also preceded her in death. Survivors included seven children; four daughters, Mrs. Ella McCarty, Ashland, Mrs. Erie LeMaster, Manila, Mrs. Cora Cochran, Shelby, Ohio, and Mrs. Deallie Curtis, Elna; three sons Ollie Fyffe, Red Bush, Wallie Fyffe, Volga, Charlie Fyffe, Oil Springs. Surviving also are two sisters, Mrs. Cleffie Cochran, Oil Springs, and Mrs. Deallie McCarty, Manila, and one brother, Leck Gullett, Oil Springs. Funeral services were conducted today at 10:30 a.m., at the Low Gap United Baptist Church with Revs. Lonza Reed, Buel Ferguson, and Tommie Bailey officiating. Burial was in the McCarty Cemetery at Manila under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
