GREER, SC-- Miles Franklin Compton, 82, of 1010 Robison Road, passed away on July 24, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born on February 14, 1925 to the late Will and Alberta Hendrix Compton. Before retiring in 1992, he spent 30 years in John Deere sales, which he loved. Mr. Compton was Past Master of Duncan Masonic Lodge 309 and member for 50 years. He was a member of Spartanburg Scottish Rite and a 33rd degree of Greenville Scottish Rite. He was a member of Memorial Untied Methodist Church and was active in the Methodist church all his life.
Surviving are his loving wife, Sara Snow Compton of the home; a daughter, Deborah C. McGauhey of Asheville, N.C.; three sisters, Lillian C. Coggins of Pineville, NC, Martha C. Watson of Swainsboro, GA and Stella C. Dill of Taylors.
Mr. Compton was predeceased by four brothers, Herman Compton, Fred Compton, Mack Compton and Billy Compton; two sisters, Dorothy C. Hamby and Esther C. Nalley and a son-in-law, Michael McGauhey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Wood Mortuary conducted by Rev. Arthur Holt and Rev. John Rush. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Coggins, Jerry Hamby, Jeff Snow, Donny Wilson, Phillip Dill and Steve Compton.
Honorary escort will be the Camak Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be held 12:30-1:30 PM Friday at Wood Mortuary.
The family is at the home.
