Clark Brashear, son of Elias and Violeta Fuller Brashear, was born in Montgomery Township, Crawford County, Illinois, March 16, 1841 on the farm now owned by James A Espy. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Garrard, February 27, 1925, aged 83 years 11 months and 11 days. He was the last survivor of a family of ten children. He was united in marriage to Miss Cahterine Simons, Dec. 31, 1863 and from this union have come within the life time of the father, one hundred twenty decendants, ninety-three of whom survive. There were born into the home fifteen children, eight sons and seven daughters. Twelve of these children lived to become manly men and womanly women, namely, ALBERT, CLARK, Jr., ELIAS, ASA, OLIVIA JANE, wife of HARLAN GARRARD, ANAS, wife of HARRY GARRARD, JULIA, wife of JOSEPH ZEHNER, HENRY, EVERETT, of West Hope, North Dakota. Seventy-one grand children have been born of whom fifty-three are living and thirty-four great grandchildren of whom thirty-one survive. His wife preceded him in death more than twenty-eight years.
