LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Garland Elmo Garrett, 82, of Monroe were
held today, Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Speck Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston.
Bro. Randy Stephen officiated with burial following in Antioch Cemetery.

Mr. Garrett died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998 at the Overton County Nursing Home.

He was born January 5, 1916 to the late Will Henry and Ella Wan Garrett in
Pickett County. A fine carpenter, he was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

His family includes his sons, Elmo Garrett of Allons and Joe Garrett of
Monroe; daughters, Frances Stover of Nacogdoches, Texas, Patty Spohnholtz of
Cookeville, and Linda Hicks of Livingston; brothers Clurie Garrett of
Livingston and Lonzie Garrett of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters Serene Stephens and
Monnie Garrett of Livingston; eight grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vernorra Emmagene
Martin Garrett; and two brothers, Dessie Garrett and Howard Garrett.

Speck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
