The community was shocked on last Friday to learn of the death of a well-known citizen, Mrs. Walter Hancock, following an operation.

Mrs. Hancock was a native of Texas, born there on November 21, 1883, and spent most of her life in Arizona and New Mexico. She had resided in Casa Grande for the past six years.

She was affiliated with the Presbyterian church, was a member of Sunshine Rebekah Lodge, No. 29, the Garden Club, the Homemakers Club, second vice-president of the Woman's Club, member of the Pythian Sisters, Spanish-American War Veterans Auxiliary, and the Democratic Woman's Club.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, with the Rev. Wendell Nowell officiating. Graveside services were conducted by the local Rebekah Lodge at Mountain View Cemetery.

Mrs. Hancock is survived by her husband, Walter; two sons: Jack, of Coolidge, and William, of Tucson; two daughters: Mrs. Enoch Hill, of Marana, and Mrs. Robert Carson, of Manny, LA; and nine grandchildren.
