EARL HOVEY MISSING

Belvidere, Nov. 21 - Earl Hovey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abner Hovey of Belvidere, and a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Switz of Rockford, has been missing in France since between the third and thirteenth of August, and the conclusion is that he was either killed or taken prisoner by the Germans. He was a drafted man at Camp Grant and went across with an infantry organization last May.

Killed in Action

A message from the war department received last night by Mr. and Mrs. Abner Hovey of Logan avenue, conveyed the news that their son, Private Earl L. Hovey, reported missing in action, is now reported killed in action.

Earl Hovey Killed in Action

Mr. and Mrs. Abner Hovey have been notified that their son, Earl Hovey of the 47th regiment, infantry, was killed in action Aug. 3. He had previously been reported missing in action. He was drafted from South Chicago, trained at Camp Grant and went across last May. He was a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Switz of Rockford and of Mr. and Mrs. Poulton of Cherry Valley.

MILITARY FUNERAL FOR EARL HOVEY BY BELVIDERE LEGION

BELVIDERE, June 8 - Earl L. Hovey, who fell on the Battlefields of France, will be given the honors of a soldier when his body arrives here the latter part of the week from Hoboken, N.J. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abner Hovey, have been notified that the body is enroute. The American legion will have charge of the funeral.
