Erma Mitchell Ashton, 85, of White Heath, died July 5, 1998 at her home in White Heath. A memorial service will be held July 8 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held at Monticello cemetery.
Mrs. Ashton was born January 8, 1913 in Lakefield MN, d/o Clater and Julie Carlsen Mitchell. She married Earl D. Ashton (1911-1974) on April 5, 1940 in Pontiac. He died April 22, 1974. Surviving are a son, James of Ivesdale; two daughters: Phyllis Ashton and Sandy (Larry) Haneline, both of White Heath; two step-sisters: Ramola Elmore, Farmer City and Bernice Morris, Clearwater FL; one grandson, Peter Ashton of Champaign. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Forrest.
Mrs. Ashton was employed by Viobin as a bookkeeper for 25 years, retiring in 1975. She was a 1930 graduate of Monticello High School and attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville. Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home.
