Shellsburg, Iowa — Monday, Jan 15, 1923 Special: The remains of Walker H Graham arrived here Thursday night, January 11, 1923, and funeral services were held at the Baptist church Friday afternoon, January 12, 1923. Reverend Fenn Moore officiated and interment was in Oakwood cemetery, Shellsburg, Iowa.

The deceased was born in Philadelphia on February 6, 1878, and when 12 years of age, came to Iowa with his parents who located on a farm north of town where the aged father still resides. In 1912, Mr. Graham returned to Philadelphia and engaged in business. A month ago, he became seriously ill and his sister, Mrs. Mae Mason, went to Philadelphia to care for him. She accompanied her brother’s remains to Shellsburg, on Thursday, January 11, 1923.

Mr.Graham was a member of the Woodmen and K.P. Lodges and belonged to the Oak Grove Christian Church. He never married.

W. H. Graham died at the home of his cousin in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, January 8, 1923. Mr. Graham was the son of Henry & Rebecca (Fee) Graham, and was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, February 6, 1866.

He came to Iowa with his parents when he was a child and spent many years of his life in this vicinity. He was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ, and a member of the Masonic Lodge at Shellsburg. Walker had been in poor health for several years and failed rapidly during the past several months. His sister, Marion E. “Mae” Mason, went to Philadelphia a few weeks ago to care for him and will arrive here with the body Thursday, January 11, 1923, evening.

The funeral will be held at the Baptist church in Shellsburg Friday afternoon and interment will be in the Shellsburg cemetery. Besides his father, Henry Graham, Walker is survived by four sisters: Mrs. Mae Mason of Shellsburg, Mrs. Lydia O. Peterman of Ashby, Minnesota, Mrs. Sarah A. Daugherty of California, and Mrs. Lewis (Mary Jane) Jones of Medford, Oklahoma, as well as three brothers: Henry D., Samuel G., and John B., all of Shellsburg. Walker was of a pleasant and good-natured disposition and has many friends here who mourn his death.

Walker was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Graham, and sister, Emily A. Graham.

Note: Walker never married, he was a lifelong bachelor.
