Cecil Q. VanVeckhoven Sr., 80, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 2, 1926, at Many, La., a son of the late Albert and Eulalie DeLatin Van Veckhoven. He was reared and received his early education at Shreveport, La., where he attended Jesuit High School and graduated from Byrd High School. He also attended Centenary College.
He served in the Navy during World War II. He moved to Pine Bluff in 1959 and started Razorback Printing Co., which is still owned and operated by his family. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree, the Altar Society at St. Joseph, UCT, VFW Post 4455, and the American Legion.
He was also preceded in death by eight siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Rose Reginelli Van Veckhoven; five sons, Cecil VanVeckhoven, Jr., Dennis Van Veckhoven and Gus Van Veckhoven, all of Pine Bluff; Tommy Van Veckhoven of Conway and Benny Van Veckhoven of Channahon, Ill.; a daughter, Mollie Boeving of Pine Bluff; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Msg. Jack Harris officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
A Rosary service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with visitation to follow.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 412 W. 6th Ave., Pine Bluff.
