the remains were brought to the Shaffer funeral home where they will remain. Service was on Wed at two. Rev. ulmer, a former pastor of Atlanta M.E. church, will have charge of the service. Interment will be in Arcadia cemetery.
Son of Henry and Caroline (Bosler) Essig, born on the Essig homestead north of Arcadia, June 30, 1859 and last of 15 children of this pioneer couple. Married to Louisa Todd July 24, 1879, and to this union was born Fred and daughter, hattie who survive. The wife and mother died when the son and daughter were but children. Later, Mr. Essig married a sister in law Mrs. Emily todd who had two sons who were reared in the Essig home. The second wife died a number of years ago and in May 1909 Mr. Essig married Miss Sadie Hartlzer, who passed away April 1933, and since then Mr. Essig had lived alone much of the time. His entire life was spent within a short distance of his birthplace which remained in the Essig family until recently when it was sold to Wayne Ehman.
Survived by the son, Fred, of Atlanta, Daughter, Hattie, wife of Grover Thurston, of near Seymour, who have been at the father's bedside for several weeks, and one grandson, James thurston, of Seymour, the step-sons, many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Essig was a broom maker for many years and well known in the community.
