Lawrence (Dock) O. Evinger, 86, of Eudora, Ks. passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at Eudora Medical Lodge.

Service will be Thurs., Oct. 30, 2008 at 1:30 PM at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12:30 PM. To leave a special message for the family, please visit our website at www.PenwellGabel.com.

Lawrence was born Aug. 22, 1922 in Osawatomie Ks., to Elmer F. and Carrie G. (Skiles) Evinger. He grew up in the Osawatomie, Ks. area. After attending high school, Lawrence enlisted in the United States Army, from Nov. 19, 1942 – Nov. 30, 1945. After WWII he was in the National Guard. Before entering the Army he was in the Civilian Corp., from 1939-1940. Lawrence later married Meda M. McRoberts on March 23, 1945. To this union five children were born, Larry, Terry, David, Rodney, and Karen.
They made their home in the Osawatomie area until 1964 when they moved to Eudora, Kansas. Lawrence worked for the Mo. Pacific Railroad for many years, later he worked as a painter at Kansas University. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Lawrence enjoyed fishing and hunting, and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Larry, twin brothers Willard and Wilfred ,brothers Nathan E. Evinger, Labon Elsworth Evinger, Claude Edwin Evinger, Roscoe LaVerne Evinger, Herman Elmer Evinger, and three sisters, Iva Maude Davis, Charlotte Gertrude Kates, and Winifred Hatcher.

He is survived by his wife, Meda, of Eudora, sons Terry Lee Evinger, David Lawrence Evinger, and Rodney Ray Evinger of Eudora, Ks, and one daughter Karen Sue Evinger,
of Lawrence, Ks., 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Lawrence will be missed by many.
