Excerpt -- Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, at Shays Chapel, the Rev. N. L. Casey officiating, for Charles Walter Ashby, aged 59, who died at his home in Austin, following a four month illness. He was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Mays Ashby and was born in Howesville, Preston County. He was united in marriage with Miss. Mary Mitter, who survives with seven children, Mrs. Eva Sanders, Rowlesburg; Mrs. Ruth Ball, Masontown; Mrs. Louise Nine, Pittsburg; Mrs. Flossie Lee, Monroe Ashby, Helen and Irene Ashby, all at home.
