He was united in marriage on June 18, 1917, to Alva Hazel Brown Dawson at Eureka.
A Veteran of World War I he was an active member of the American Legion James Sill Brown Post No. 124 Madison, Kansas; Greenwood County Veterans of World War I Eureka; National Rual Letter Carrieres association, and the Hamilton Lions club.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Doctor Cecil Barngrover.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend , he leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Alva Barngrover of Hamilton; his daughter and son-in-law (Anna Faye and William Volkman) and grandchildren. Judith Lynn and James Volkman, of Larchmont, New York; two sisters, Mrs Blanche Beevers of Hamilton and Mrs. Faye Weaver of San Antonio, Texas, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Jan. 31, at 2:30 p.m., at the First Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Reverend W. L. Shuler. Interment was in Hamilton cemetery. (Note - Jamesville Cemtery is the name of the Hamilton, KS. cemetery)

Otis Barngrover dies in New York
Otis Barngrover, of Hamilton, died about 6: p.m. Wednesday in New Rochelle hospital in New Rochelle, New York, following surgery.
Funeral plans are not yet complete. Mr. Barngrover, a rural mail carrier at Hamilton and life long resident in that community, is survived by his wife of the home; one daughter, Mrs Anna Faye Volkman of Larchmont, New York; two grandchildren and other relatives.
